This time around we were back on campus for our session. We started off by sharing what worked for us during the week and what we need to work on still.
Connecting with Manaiakalani Dorothy
Dorothy came down to Christchurch for this session and shared again, here main points were:
Share - increased from lockdown. Sharing is not new we have been doing this for years just in different ways.
2005 when youtube was made- sharing became more common online.
Sharing with an audience gives us purpose.
Blogger was chosen as the main space for ours students to share their work.
- It does resemble the spaces our young people want to be on.
- It is owned by Google.
Importance of learning to share- information for John Hattie- note picture below.
Google Forms
Blank- new form is the best way to create your own new form.
Adding questions- Multiple choice - there are several different types that you can select from.
Required means students have to attempt the question- this should be turned on.
Can use mote as well for forms.
Make sure to limit to one response- can let students edit their answers under settings.
Can use quizzes- give out points for each answer etc
Can collect data and then turn this into sheets via sheets icon.
I created my own google form about writing quality blog comments. Blog comments are something that we are currently working on with our students.
How to add links to blog comments- use this link and put a link in speech marks.
Insert display text here
Hapara top tips 3
Can see posts and comments via Hapara. Green pencil means the students are still editing their blog post. You as a teacher can not see the blog until it is published.
Can see comments- so you can see who next needs a comment etc.
My Maps
Can share and preview into sites.
Can add layers. Can also change the base map.
This could be good for students to use for our inquiry when we are learning about NZ and places in NZ.
Here is a screenshot of our DFI group and their favourite holiday destinations.
